Gumdrop Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 cups regular rolled oats
2 cups gumdrops, cut in small pieces
1 cup coconut

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream shortening and sugars together. Add eggs and vanilla and
beat well. Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking
powder. Stir into creamed mixture. Stir in rolled oats. Fold
in gumdrops and coconut. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart,
onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for about 12 minutes, until
golden brown. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
