Deli Dagwood Soup


cup chopped onions
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups beef broth
teaspoon soda
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
2 cups milk
2cups chopped pastrami
1 small jar marinated artichokes, chopped
1 cup mushrooms, chopped
1 cup gruyere cheese
teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Place onion and butter in crock pot. Combine cornstarch and water
and add to pot. Stir in broth and baking soda. Stir in milk, pastrami,
artichokes, and mushrooms. Cover and cook on high for 4 to 5 hours.
Stir in cheese and cook for another 30 minutes. Add pepper.

Makes 6 servings
