Let's Help Our Schools

Our schools are facing many challenges.
Financial problems are
almost always part of the problem. The companies listed below
can help out with money and with needed items. It is a simple way, that
costs no money to help a little for your child or grandchild's school. Even
those who are not parents can participate.
If your child's school does not take
advantage of these programs, volunteer
to be in charge of it yourself. It is easy and rewarding and you will get to
know
the other parents and the staff at your child's school.
Target.com
Head to Target and get their credit
card, they donate a percentage to the school of
your choice. Every little bit adds up.
HEARTof.com I have just
discovered this site which helps you donate to your school
while you are shopping online. They donate a larger portion of their
proceeds
to your school-so enroll your school and start earning some donations.
Project A+ from Tyson Foods
This is a new project from Tyson Foods. Each label sent in is worth 24
cents. Schools
from K-12 are eligible. The maximum for a school year is 12,000. Look
for the A+ label
on Tyson fresh and frozen foods. Register your school if they haven't done it
already.
School
Stores Get 60% of the profits from your on-line shopping donated to
the school of your choice.
LABELS FOR EDUCATION
This is the first and the oldest promotion of this kind. Campbell's soup
offers this program that turns labels into all kinds of things that can be of
help at your child's school. From staplers to a Van, a good organizer can
make the most of labels that are usually thrown away. Your local paper
may put a little note in a community guide about your efforts, this works
really well, labels will come from everywhere. If you would like to
contribute labels, just call the school nearest you, many elementary
schools
belong to this program.
FUNDING
FACTORY
This web site offers a way to turn your used ink cartridges and cell phones into
points that can be redeemed for needed school merchandise. They even provide
postage paid boxes to send in the cartridges. Recycle and earn items for your
school.
BOXTOPS FOR
EDUCATION
Another good program for schools that is fairly new is General Mills Box Tops
for Education program. You just send in the box tops from participating brands
of General Mills products and they send cash to your child's school. Up to
$10,000 per year. This program is for K-8 grades only. It would be nice
if it
also included High Schools.
SCHOOLPOP
At this site you can shop and have a portion of your spending go to the school
of your choice. It doesn't cost any extra and lots of internet companies have
signed up for this.
E-SCRIP
Most of the parents of school children are
familiar with scrip. You buy "gift
certificates" and a portion of the money goes to the school. Now it can be
done on-line. It costs no extra to the consumer and the schools reap great
benefits.
ABC Free Give your old stuff
away and benefit schools. Schools get the
first crack at your stuff you don't need and they get a portion of the
advertising revenue from the site.
Market
Day
This is a grocery program that contributes
part of your grocery money to
participating schools. As far as I can tell from the web site. You order
groceries and pick them up at school. This program is not available in
all states.
If you have a Martin's
or Meijer's grocery store near you, check for their school donation
programs.
These are the only corporate sponsorships of this type that I am aware of
at this time, if I am missing any let me know.
Nothing takes the place of parent participation in schools. We are all
unique and can add to all children's education by volunteering in their
school. The PTA wants you! As a PTA member, I can say that it is a
lot of fun and is very rewarding to know that you have contributed.
Get out there Moms and make school a better place.
