1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple sugar (use the real stuff)
1 egg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup dried figs, finely chopped*

Preheat oven to 350.  Coat baking sheets with cooking spray. 
With electric mixer, combine butter and sugar until well combined.
Add syrup, egg and vanilla and continue blending.  Add dry ingredients
and mix just until blended.
Stir in oats and figs.
Drop onto baking sheet by tablespoons.  Bake for 12-14 minutes. 
Let cool on the baking sheet.
* If you are not a big fig fan, use dried cranberries or blueberries.
